Jay Bothroyd: QPR striker released from the club

The 31-year-old penned a three-year deal when he signed from Cardiff in July 2011 but the club have activated a clause to cut that short.Bothroyd, capped once by England, made 18 starts and 13 substitute appearances in all competitions and registered five goals.
A statement on the club's official website read: "The club would like to thank Jay for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future."
Bothroyd tweeted: "Thank you to all the QPR fans you have been amazing I don't want to say too much but I have enjoyed playing for my schoolboy team."
